This is a villa project currently underway in the Kahala district of Hawaii. The Kahala district is designated as a Diamond Head Special District area, and landscape regulations regarding materials and heights have been laid. The site, which has a difference in elevation of about 10 meters, connects to the sea at its lowest point, and from the center of the site, the vast, blue, beautiful Hawaiian sea can be seen. Here, we are thinking of a powerful building that enjoys the strength of the earth and nature, standing at the foot of Diamond Head. It is also an open-air residence that embodies the climate, culture, and nature. It should be a unique architectural style while blending into the streetscape of the Kahala district. What kind of architecture can have a powerful presence while blending into the terrain and exuding a subtle presence in a quiet residential area? Through the exploration of form and materials, we are planning a building that will blend into the majestic nature and scenery of Hawaii, so that this building will be a symbol of the area and at the same time a part of the scenery.
ハワイのカハラ地区で進行中のヴィラの計画である。カハラ地区はダイアモンドヘッドのスペシャルディストリクトのエリアとして指定されており、素材や高さについての景観条例が敷かれている。高低差が１０mほどもある敷地は、一番低くなるところで海につながり、敷地の中央からは広大で青く美しいハワイの海が見渡すことができる。ここに私たちはダイヤモンドヘッドの麓に佇む、大地と自然の力強さを享受するような力強い建築を考えている。かつ、風土、文化、そして自然を体現する、開放的な住まい。それはカハラ地区の街並みに溶け込みながらも、個性的な建築様式であるべきである。閑静な住宅街に佇む中で、力強い存在感を放ちながらも、地形に溶け込み、さりげない存在感を放つ建築とはどのようなものか。フォルムと素材の探求を通して、この建物が地域の象徴であり、同時にハワイの雄大な自然に溶け込む建築を計画している。
